Dear Family and Friends of St. Andrew’s,

This Sunday is the First Sunday of Advent. A significant time in ourlife as a Christian Community. We all know what it is about. But I wantto take a different turn in looking at this time of the year. Especiallysince we tend to miss the real meaning of this season when we get too caught up in the business of  this time of the year preparing for Christmas.

My sermon last Sunday spoke of the Saboth as being God’s way of takingtime out and encouraging us to do the same. The Jewish/Christian sabothhas us follow God’s example of taking one day in seven to rest and reflect about life and our relationship with God and each other. When I was growing up Sunday the Saboth was a family day . We went to Churchand came home for Sunday Dinner which often included guests and rested. We took time off for each other. Our Saboths needent be just a day butthey may include time during the days when we give ourselves time out to rest and reflect. But back to Advent.

This Sunday being the first Sunday of the Month Services will be at 9:30
and 11:00. The Schedule for Advent and Christmas is attached to this email.

A Blessed Advent to you all,

David Bruce , Chaplain
