A Year in Gothenburg – August

Saturday August 1

Pilgrimage walk on the island of Galterö, with 9 people, the most for a long time.  Two had contacted me after seeing it on the internet.  I had forgotten how beautiful the path was, and felt much more in a pilgrim spirit than on the very hot walk to Rome last month.  Lunch at the top of a hill, looking out to sea – it was too cold and windy last time I was up there, April 2014, pilgrims mass on the rocks, and a refreshing swim in shallow water.

Sunday August 2

Visitors from Denmark joined our family communion service, with refreshments in the church garden.

Friday August 14

Splendid lunchtime concert with organist and trumpeter from Leipzig making joyful noise.

Tuesday August 18

Chalmers welcomed new students with music and exercises in Götaplatsen and speeches and fireworks on campus.  A happy occasion.
